The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP continues to investigate the case of two deceased puppies found on a pedestrian path in the city in August.

A necropsy performed on August 14 confirmed that the puppies died due to human involvement and had suffered significant trauma, according to a press release issued on Monday.

The Alberta RCMP identified the puppies as male golden retrievers or a mix of the breed, approximately six to eight weeks old.

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Detachment at (780) 997-7900 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.

This incident follows the discovery of a dead kitten in Calgary’s Kingsland community on August 12, where peace officers found the animal tied to a fence.

The Calgary Humane Society (CHS) launched an investigation following the incident. A necropsy revealed that the kitten had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and abdomen.

This case follows a troubling trend, as the CHS has discovered six kittens in varying states of distress since May.
