Easy Homemade Raw Dog Food Recipe

The concept of the raw dog food diet remains a subject of considerable debate, both among humans and in the context of pets. This dietary approach draws inspiration from the carnivorous eating habits of our dogs' predecessors. Given the shared lineage of our dogs with creatures like wolves, coyotes, and other wild canids, proponents argue that a raw, unprocessed regimen aligns with their natural inclinations. The following uncomplicated raw dog food recipe might be suitable for your beloved Fido.

While I've provided an additional seven raw food recipes for your consideration, it's imperative to underscore that before embarking on a switch to a raw diet for your dog, professional guidance is essential. Engaging with your veterinarian is crucial, and it's even advisable to arrange a consultation with a specialized canine nutritionist. While the raw diet boasts various advantages, it is not without risks if administered improperly.

Collaborating with an expert allows the development of a personalized dietary blueprint that caters to your dog's specific nutritional requirements. They possess the expertise to recommend optimal protein sources for your pet and guide you in crafting the most fitting recipes. Additionally, they'll delve into critical aspects like protein quantities, carbohydrate ratios, and other vital nutrients that must feature in any straightforward raw dog food recipe you prepare.

Tailoring their advice based on your dog's age, weight, existing health status, and other individual factors, a canine nutritionist or your veterinarian might also suggest incorporating supplements into your homemade dog food. Engaging in these discussions with professionals is of paramount importance rather than embarking on a solo venture to create a homemade diet for your dog.

Ingredients

2.5 lbs. lean ground beef
4 oz. chicken livers
1 chopped carrot
1 cored apple
1/2 cup baby spinach
2 whole eggs, including the shell
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tbsp. ground flaxseed
1 tbsp. olive oil

What's truly remarkable about preparing raw dog food for your furry companion is the remarkable simplicity of the process! There's no need to preheat your oven, fry, bake, or allocate any cook time.

To create this straightforward raw dog food recipe, begin by placing the carrot, apple, and baby spinach into a food processor. As my video guide above illustrates, in the absence of a food processor, I utilized my blender. If opting for a blender, remember to include a small amount of water, as it aids in efficiently chopping the ingredients.

Once these three components are finely minced, introduce the chicken livers, eggs, plain yogurt, flaxseed, and olive oil to the mix. Blend these ingredients until they're once again finely minced. Subsequently, amalgamate the processed mixture from the food processor with the raw ground beef within a spacious bowl.

Once you've thoroughly blended this uncomplicated raw dog food recipe, it's ready to be served to your canine companion. To ensure your dog receives the necessary nutrients without gaining excess weight, rely on guidance from your veterinarian or a qualified canine nutritionist. They will determine the suitable daily food quantity based on your dog's requirements.

The meal can be served as is, or you have the option to shape it into patties and freeze them. For instance, if your vet suggests a daily intake of 2 pounds of food, you can create 1-pound patties akin to those used for grilling burgers.

Lay the patties on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet and freeze them. Once frozen, transfer them to an airtight container, and they can be stored in the freezer for up to two months. Each day, simply retrieve two patties, allow them to thaw, and your dog's daily meals are ready for consumption.

However, bear in mind that this diet may not be suitable for every dog. Various recipes exist, some well-crafted and others not so much. Prior to transitioning to the raw food diet, it's imperative to consult your veterinarian to ensure its appropriateness for your specific dog's needs.
